Based on the SD Association Specification Version 2.00, the new SD memory card allows users to select a memory card according to the performance needs of their storage-intensive applications, such as high-resolution digital images, HD video recording and playback. As personal devices gain greater functionality and require higher storage capacities, the SDHC format was created to support a higher capacity to gain optimal performance.
